Trainer and assistant manager role at a residential hospitality academy, delivering food and beverage service and housekeeping training while supporting daily academy operations.

The Service Trainer (Service Bingwa Trainer) / Assistant Manager (Food & Beverage Service and Housekeeping) will deliver practical and classroom training in food and beverage service and housekeeping, preparing students for employment in safari camps, lodges and hotels.

The role also supports the General Manager in the daily running of the academy, maintaining high standards of student welfare, discipline and hospitality operations.

Plan and deliver lessons in restaurant service, table setting, guest care, service etiquette and housekeeping.

Train students in room preparation, cleaning standards, laundry, hygiene and the safe use of equipment and cleaning products.

Organise and supervise practical training in the academy’s dining areas, guest accommodation and laundry.

Prepare weekly lesson plans and practical schedules in coordination with other trainers.

Assess students’ skills, keep attendance and progress records, and give individual feedback and support.

Prepare students for field attachments and employment, reinforcing professionalism, teamwork and communication.

Assist the General Manager with daily operations, staff coordination and implementation of academy procedures.

Help organise timetables, duty rosters, student activities and practical assignments.

Supervise student routines, cleanliness, punctuality and discipline, applying academy policies fairly and consistently.

Support student welfare and safeguarding, promptly reporting concerns to the General Manager.

Monitor service and housekeeping supplies, equipment and stock, and submit procurement and maintenance requests.

Support student admissions, orientation, record keeping and field attachment coordination.

Prepare regular updates on training progress, operational needs and student matters.

Coordinate daily activities during the General Manager’s absence, within delegated authority.

Certificate or diploma in hospitality management, food and beverage service, housekeeping or a related field.

At least three years of relevant experience in a hotel, lodge or safari camp.

Experience training, mentoring or supervising staff or students.

Strong practical knowledge of food and beverage service and housekeeping standards.

Good spoken and written English and Swahili, with basic computer skills.

Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills.

Patient, dependable and committed to developing young people.

Willingness to work at a residential academy in a rural setting.
