About the Primary School Teacher Role
The Primary Years Teacher will plan and deliver lessons based on the learning objectives of the Cambridge Primary Curriculum for Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4.
The role requires more than delivering individual lessons. Teachers are expected to connect different subjects, assess learner progress, prepare appropriate teaching resources and create a classroom environment where pupils can develop independence, collaboration and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cambridge Primary Curriculum Delivery
Plan and implement engaging lessons that are aligned with the Cambridge Primary learning objectives for Stages 1 through 4. Lessons should be structured to support learners at different levels and encourage active participation.
2. Integrated Teaching
Create meaningful connections between subjects, particularly Mathematics and Science, while using English to develop learners' communication, reasoning and critical-thinking abilities.
3. Assessment and Learner Progress
Use appropriate assessment approaches, including Cambridge Primary Progression Tests and Checkpoints, to monitor learner development. Teachers will also provide constructive feedback to help pupils understand their progress and areas for improvement.
4. Classroom Management
Maintain a safe, stimulating and organized classroom environment. The teacher should encourage learners to work independently, collaborate with others and take an active role in their learning.
5. Teaching Resource Development
Design, prepare and adapt high-quality teaching materials that respond to different learning needs within the classroom.
6. Professional Collaboration
Work collaboratively with school administrators and other teachers to ensure teaching practices are consistent with the school's expectations and international educational standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
A Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or a related field.
At least 3 years of proven teaching experience with the Cambridge Primary Curriculum.
Experience specifically covering the lower and middle primary years.
Fluency in spoken and written English.
Proficiency in digital learning tools and classroom technology.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while remaining calm under pressure.
Ability to interact with learners, colleagues and other members of the school community with professionalism, care and respect.
