About Action For Ocean (AFO)
Action For Ocean (AFO) is a youth-led non-governmental organization focused on advancing marine conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods through science, innovation, and indigenous knowledge.
Job Purpose
The Driver will provide safe, reliable, and professional transport and logistics support for AFO’s Kigamboni Seascape operations. The role involves supporting staff movement, field activities, community engagement activities, and transportation of equipment and supplies.
Approximately 80% of the work will be conducted within Kigamboni District.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport staff, visitors, partners, equipment, and supplies as authorized.
- Support field visits, community activities, meetings, and other Seascape operations.
- Ensure compliance with road safety standards, AFO safety procedures, security requirements, and safeguarding guidelines.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and ensure the assigned vehicle remains clean, safe, and roadworthy.
- Maintain accurate vehicle records, including logbooks, mileage, fuel usage, and other required documentation.
- Report vehicle faults, accidents, incidents, and security concerns promptly.
- Provide professional, respectful, and punctual transport services at all times.
- Perform other reasonable logistics-related duties supporting Seascape operations.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
- Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE).
- Valid Class C Driving Licence.
- Professional Driving Certificate from VETA, NIT, or equivalent institution.
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional driving experience.
- Good knowledge of road safety practices and basic vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to use smartphones, GPS, and basic digital communication tools.
- Willingness and ability to work mainly within Kigamboni District.
