Job Purpose

The CCR Operator is responsible for operating kilns and mills to ensure that the plant runs within the required and agreed operating parameters.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate kilns and mills to ensure the plant is running within the required and agreed parameters.
• Maintain production log sheets, ensuring the accuracy of recorded data and preparation of daily reports.
• Participate in production-related activities professionally and efficiently, including cleaning, firefighting, special tests and refractory jobs.
• Operate the plant according to daily instructions, monitor the process and make adjustments as required to maintain optimum operating parameters.
• Communicate with the Shift Supervisor regarding abnormalities and ensure feedback from the laboratory on product quality is obtained.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and relevant company and statutory regulations.
• Observe and comply with relevant environmental policies and regulations.
• Comply with the Heidelberg Materials Group Code of Business Conduct, Compliance Policies and Guidelines.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should have:

• A BSc in Chemical and Processing Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of one (1) year of experience in cement operations or an equivalent industry.
• Basic understanding of maintenance requirements.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Good knowledge of safety procedures.
• Ability to organize the work of the section.
• Good attention to detail, accuracy and logical thinking.
• Ability to perform duties in a timely manner.
• Professional registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) or an equivalent professional body.
